I can't even finish a scrapbook. — I can’t even finish a scrapbook.

There’s a strange relationship between being a writer and publishing a book.

In the day of the possibility of publishing online to an audience of millions, having a solid book in hand is still the goal. The part where bringing out the Champagne is called for.

At least that’s for me.

Before travelling, I had hoped to be able to gather enough stories to piece together into a travel memoir, or a book.
During travelling, I kept a digital journal each day to remind myself of what happened.
After travelling, I went to the library to get my hands on books about writing books.

Thailand, my 2012 destination

Question this month: In 2012 where do you most want to go but haven’t yet, & why?

I’ve not set foot in the Land of Smiles yet. It seems to be the destination to go for Malaysians and Singaporeans. Of course, growing up on the other side of the South China Sea means it will be a bit more difficult for me to get air tickets there.

I heard that Bangkok is wonderful for its clothes/food/cosmetics/shopping/everything/people/temples. My mom said Chiang Mai was nice. And then there’s the Thai towns just across the Malaysian borders.

If it’s for a shopping or eating trip in Bangkok, I have plenty of airlines to pick from. In fact, AirAsia just added another flight in the late evening.

Or, I could take the sleeping bunk on the Malaysian train and take a whole 24 hours to get to Bangkok.

So many choices! I must visit Thailand by the end of the year.

My Japan trip through Facebook

I like to blame my lack of travel journalling on Facebook. I mean, come on, it’s much easier to upload a photo and one sentence than make the effort to type out 3 paragraphs of the day’s journey.

Also, my friend are more likely to comment on a Facebook post than a TL;DR post.

That’s why I am experimenting with “My Facebook travel journal”.
