Open Monument Day conquered

P236

Armenian Church
Sitting in round chapel of the Armenian Church. D and I finished the 5 required stops of Open Monument Day. Received a pair of tickets for Already Famous, a local comedy featuring stereotypes of Malaysian.
Anyway, we went on a guided tour of Hajjah Fatima Mosque and Sultan Mosque with Alphonso (i think). It was a nice tour and it didn’t rain.
Sadly the Open Monument Day [in case anyone’s doing media monitoring] was badly organized. Although the concept is nice and makes you go around visiting different sites.
Details about the guided tour was only sent to me, not D. No one knew where the shuttle bus was supposed to stop. No one seem to know what all that stamps are about.
Sitting in this pretty church, I have sort of forgotten about the rain, bad organization and just feel at peace.
Amen.

Youthful reads and plans

I like to plan my travels. It makes me more secure than just plopping in some where and walk aimlessly.

But even with planning, I would walk in the opposite direction of my destination. My sense of direction falls below average in foreign places.

I’m now planning a seven day backpack trip (should I say, wheeled trolley trip). I want to stop in historical locations. I’ll skip the big cities during this solo travelling trip because my main aim is Tokyo.

Not in room day

Today was a day of break from studies, for official reasons.

Went to SCWO to take photos of the place and bought two non-study-non-travel book.

Then went to Bras Basah to see if they have cheap travel guides. Japan isn’t the most popular destination for these second hand book sellers. I found three and all of them are at least 10 years old. Hmm… And they cost at least S$15. SCWO’s thrift shop has spoiled me, second hand books should cost only $5 max!! and that’s hardcover.

You know what I got from Bras Basah in the end? Harry Potter. Ha, the french children’s version. $5.
