I was talking to Pamela from Pamela Goes Travelling about my Big Break. One thing she asked was:
What was the most memorable thing on your trip?
The first thing that came to my mind was the divine taste of Greek yogurt with honey. I have eaten Greek yogurt before going to Greece but it wasn’t until that fateful day that I tasted ambrosia.
It was a plain-looking bowl of Greek yogurt from the breakfast buffet table of my hotel on Mykonos Island. The breakfast tables were set up on the balcony, overlooking the sea.
The sky wasn’t the stereotypical bright blue of Greek skies. It was slightly cloudy and the the sky was greyish.
I drizzled the pre-packed honey onto my Greek yogurt. I had low expectations because I’ve eaten Greek yogurt back in Singapore before.
I mixed up the honey with the yogurt and ate a spoon of it.
Time stopped. The taste of the sweet honey with the sourness of the yogurt was perfectly harmonious. The tanginess of the yogurt stood out. The
I looked at my bowl in disbelief. How can anything taste so good!
I finished the bowl of yogurt quickly. I didn’t want to waste the rest of my food so I didn’t have a second serving of yogurt.
I will forever remember that tiny bowl of Greek yogurt and honey.
It’s funny how taste played such an important role in the memory of my trip.
